Power Potential vs Hittingweight (for impacts at all locations)
How does the power of the racquet relate to hittingweight? Is hittingweight a good indicator of what the power will be? The graph below shows that hittingweight is the best predictor for power potential. The main components of hittingweight are impact location, swingweight, and twistweight. Swingweight and twistweight determine how stable the racquet is during impact. Together they define hittingweight which is how heavy the impact location behaves. The less the racquet bends, twists, rotates, somersaults, and recoils, the heavier the racquet behaves at that location. In the graph, the hittingweight is calculated from the measured swingweight and twistweight and compared to the measured power potential.
The locations are indicated in colors. The key indicates the location position: the first number is inches from the butt, the second is inches right or left of the center line.
You can compare this relationship to that between power potential and weight, power potential and swingweight, and power potential and twistweight.
