The power potential is measured at in the middle of the stringbed at 21 inches from the butt. The sweet zone is the area of the stringbed located above 19 inches and has a power potential of 30% or more.

How Are Similar Racquets Chosen?

There is no such thing as "THE" spec for any racquet parameter. Racquets are laid up (layers of graphite, etc.) and assembled by hand. This process is painstakingly controlled, but still there is variability and every parameter has an acceptable range of variation about a target value. Depending on the property, this range may vary between +/- 2% to 3%. In the lab, we choose a single random racquet sample to measure. Consequently, the similarity itself will have a range.

Swingweight is generally the most difficult property to control. If, for example, the nominal target is 300, the actual swingweight might vary between 291 and 309. Two factors mitigate against this having much significance. First, blind test experiments have shown that most players cannot pick less than 10% difference in swingweights. Second, any racquet that is on the low side of a desired value can be precisely customized with lead tape (see the Customization Tool).

The TWU search algorithm takes all these ranges into account to find the most similar racquets.
